View Looking Southeast410 E. Grand Avenue

This surface level parking lot was acquired by Golub & Company in 2009.  The lot is currently being used by The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) for employee parking.

In July 2011, the developer announced its plan to develop the parcel.  Original plans proposed two residential buildings:

  • a 42-story, 452-foot residential building with 443 residential units
  • a 10-story, 135-foot residential building with 87 residential units and 297 parking spaces

SOAR and Alderman Reilly sponsored a community meeting in September 2011 to discuss the proposal.

The developer is now reworking the proposal to include a residential building along with a lower rise structure for medical offices and ground-level retail.  SOAR will be meeting with the developer in the future to review the revised proposal.  Early information on the proposal shows that the new intent is to develop the following:

  • 486-foot tall building with 45 floors and 488 rental units
  • 105-foot tall building with 5 floors for professional offices
  • 296 parking spaces in an 8 floor garage

This proposal was approved by the City's Plan Commission on December 15, 2011.
