SOAR 2012 Beautification Award Nominations

SOAR will be accepting nominations for its annual neighborhood Beautification Awards through July 15, 2012.  There are three categories which will be considered for nomination:  

• Residential (Condo or Co-Op Building)
• Commercial (Hotel, Apartment Building, Restaurant, Business)
• Institutional (Medical, Educational, Cultural, Religious)

All buildings within SOAR's current boundaries are eligible for consideration.  The boundaries are Lake Michigan on the east, Chicago River on the south, the west side of State Street on the west, and Oak Street/East Lake Shore Drive on the north.  (However, buildings fronting on North Michigan Avenue are not eligible since they are eligible for separate landscaping awards from the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association.)

To encourage new entries, SOAR does not give beautification awards to any buildings that have received the award in the past three years or have received a Perennial Award. View a list of past winners. 

The eligible buildings nominated will be posted with photos on the SOAR website along with ballots for voting after July 15.  The winning buildings will be determined at the end of July, and will receive their awards at the SOAR Annual Membership meeting in September.
