Pride of Place:  The Streeterville Story

Commissioned by SOAR in 2005 to celebrate SOAR's 30th Anniversary, Pride of Place:  The Streeterville Story provides readers a narrative-driven historic guide of Streeterville.

Starting at the Michigan Avenue bridge, the traveler is lured east then north along Lake Shore Drive before heading inland where the North Michigan Avenue story unfolds.  The iconic heart of Streeterville is Water Tower Place.  From here the narration heads east to the greenery and culture before it skips south along both sides of Michigan Avenue at whose highest point it turns east into the Illinois corridor to culminate at Navy Pier.

Authored by Rolf Achilles, a faculty member of the School of the Art Institute and curator of Streeterville's Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows, this unique architectural tour celebrates Streeterville's colorful past and ever-changing vertical landscape.

New SOAR members receive a complimentary copy of the book in their welcome package.  Members can purchase additional copies at $6.00. Non-members can purchase copies at $11.00. Prices include tax, shipping and handling.
